Baby Winston and His Mini Nursery

Baby Winston and His Mini Nursery

Living in a one bedroom apartment in the Cow Hollow neighborhood of San Francisco, baby Winston’s parents knew creating a nursery space would be tough. They got creative and converted their large 4′ x 8.5′ closet into a mini nursery! The vision for the room was a minimalist “Safari Chic” theme, inspired by their international travels with many stops in Africa along the way. They gave the walls a DIY chevron paint job in a palette of navy, gray, and white. Winston’s mom Mara brought in the magic of African animals into the space, using several items purchased in Africa, along with Etsy finds, some retail picks, and the popular animal prints from The Animal Printshop by Sharon Montrose. They found a mini crib and small changing table that happened to fit perfectly, then cleverly added storage behind the door. Perfect!

This adorable little space is not without it’s challenges. So far the biggest issues have been the noise in the nearby living room (fixed so far with white noise) and the looming question of what to do once this big boy will outgrow his mini crib! Mara hopes their mini closet nursery can help other city-dwelling parents find ways to utilize their own small spaces to accommodate growing families. Volatile Photography captured all of the finished room photos and portraits, and you can see more in the full gallery.
