Morris’s Bright and Colorful Nursery

Bright and Colorful Nursery

Mama and photographer Julie Driemel wanted her son Morris to have a nursery that was stimulating and fun without being cutesy. She achieved that goal in style with this bright and colorful space that has great shapes, textures and interesting elements. We know baby Morris must love this room, and Julie reports that he’s currently obsessed with the forest mural and mirrored closet. Read on for more details from Julie about all the special details in the nursery, then see all of the photos she captured in the full gallery!

“The beautifully colourful baby-sized quilt was a joint project between my mum [a non-quilter] and her aunt [a very talented quilter!] …I offered a few ideas about colors, patterns and layout and they did the rest. I LOVE it.”

“All of the bits on the shelves are either thoughtful gifts or special family items that have been passed along. Even the plants have come from special people.”

“I have loved photographing Morris over the past three and a half months. Very rarely does a day go by that I don’t pick up my camera. Never before have I felt so grateful for this skill and passion.”

“The gigantic vintage jumping skis that have been repurposed for shelving above the window came from my dad’s ski club…snow culture is a huge part of our life here in the mountains.”

“My husband Adam picked out the dresser lamp all on his own when he was on a solo IKEA mission [brave man!] in the summer. I thought that was super cute. The big jar full of beach treasures were gathered with Morris in mind this past summer on a visit to Adam’s hometown on Vancouver Island.”

“Both of the wooden moose in the windowsill have been given to Morris as gifts…a mountain man named Morris, I predict there will be plenty of moose in his future.”

[...] I was pretty darned excited when I received the inquiry for this session. It was from Julie (Williams Photography) Driemel. She is ridiculously talented and my fave photog. I met Julie in 2011 when I hired her to photograph my wedding. I was just starting out in the biz and was so excited to meet her. Without me even having to ask she invited me along to assist her on a few weddings. Since then we have become great friends. I am not sure I’ll ever be able to express how grateful I am for all she has taught me, for her never-ending support and of course her friendship. She has photographed my family quite a lot in the past few years from my wedding to my baby girl she’s been apart of and captured some pretty special memories. I am SO honoured Julie has asked me to do the same in capturing her first family session, since the new addition of their ADORABLE baby boy Morris! I have to give a special shout out to the boys, Morris was such a trooper and so well behaved as well as Julie’s super rad hubby, Adam, who indulged a couple of photo geeks and endured a really long day of photos ….and multiple locations… and multiple outfit changes. Adam you’re a rock star. Please enjoy some alot of photos of this adorable mountain family!!  Morris has an incredible nursery you can check out more photos of it here [...]
